Keep Your Teeth Healthy

It’s more convenient keeping your teeth clean while you’re at home, because you have all the tools there on hand, but what about at work or on the go? A refreshed and clean smile is very important to have, whether you’re getting ready to dazzle your co-workers in a meeting, or going on a date right after work, whatever the reason it’s very important to have that self-confidence up and having a great smile is the first step. Here at Weddington Dentistry located at Concord, NC we are going to be talking about some of the ways you can freshen up your wonderful smile while you’re on the go.

Watch What You Eat During Your Shift to Help with Keeping Your Teeth Clean

Stay away from garlic and onions, if you plan on talking to anyone face-to-face for any reason, having garlic or onion breath isn’t so appealing, and sometimes even gum or a breath mint will not make it go away. Also stay away from any type of candy that has caramel in it, it will stick to your teeth and leave a very nasty film on them and that’s not good when you won’t be able to remove it until you get home.

So, for the types of food we suggest you choose wisely about what you eat until you get home. The things that you eat or drink will have a huge impact on your breath and teeth. Instead of drinking coffee that can stain your teeth and cause you to have coffee breath, stick to water as your beverage and you won’t have to worry about those things. Also try to cut down on the snacks, especially the kind that stick to your teeth, change it to something crunchy instead of chewy like potato chips or an apple.

Keep Your Mouthwash Handy

Always keep a stash of mouthwash in the office or in your purse, it’s always a good idea to have a travel toothbrush and toothpaste on hand too, but just having mouthwash does the deed as well. If you have an important meeting and you will be doing a lot of talking it might be best if you brush and use mouthwash 15 minutes prior to keep those pearly whites fresh and to give you a great confident boost if you’re feeling uncomfortable about your breath. If your lunch break was an hour before the meeting it would be best to wait 20-30 minutes before you brush, because you can damage your teeth.

There are other ways in keeping your teeth clean if you don’t have anything on you at the time, and if you are in dire need to get your teeth semi-clean. Get a paper towel, fold it in half and wrap it around your finger and rub it vigorously on your teeth, make sure you hit all the areas around your gum line, the paper towel acts like a makeshift toothbrush for the time being until you can get an actual one.

Dental bridges got their name because they bridge the gap between teeth when one or several are missing. Dental bridges have evolved a great deal, like all dentistry today. The technology of bridgework offers several ways to support a bridge and provide teeth where they are missing. Here are three methods an experienced dentist will use to restore your smile.

Gum disease doesn't seem very serious. After all, tooth decay is the major need for dental repair, isn't it? Gum disease begins very subtly, and, unlike decay, doesn't cause much discomfort at first. This is why gum disease can become very serious without a person being aware of the condition. A general dentist discovers gum disease through a routine cleaning treatment, but dental cleaning treatments may seem rather unnecessary if a person's teeth appear to be in good condition. This is where the fallacy lies. Gum disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss.

Try as you may, many parents fail to get their children to brush their teeth as they should. Children do okay with their front teeth, but brushing their back teeth are often difficult to reach properly. Tooth decay occurs quickly when children do not do a good job brushing over a period of time. Food particles and plaque get into the grooves and cause cavities. Dental sealants are part of preventative dentistry. They are made to keep those particles from getting into the cracks and prevent decay.

If your teeth have been subject to slight crookedness or have had some minor enamel surface damage, your dentist may have recommended that you get porcelain veneers to correct the problem. Perhaps you have never heard of veneers before, or have some concerns about how they work, or are unsure whether or not they are worth the money spent on them. Our Concord cosmetic dentists are experts in this field and can answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding veneers. The following are the most commonly asked questions about veneers:
