Because of this, you’ll want to keep these teeth cleaning and hygiene tips in mind:

1. Always brush well
Naturally, one of the easiest things you can to maintain quality oral hygiene is to regularly brush your teeth. Be sure to clean the inside and outside of the rows of teeth using up-and-down, back-and-forth motions. Finally, don’t forget to brush the gums and tongue as well; they’re just as prone to holding bad bacteria that need cleaning. To prevent acid buildup from normal eating, it’s best to brush at least twice a day. If this is not possible, be sure to at least rinse using water following each meal.

2. Floss
Nobody enjoys flossing, and many are forgetful after brushing their teeth. However, if there’s one thing that anyone must listen to after visiting their local dentist office, it’s to be sure to floss regularly. This allows you to remove food particles that brushing cannot do on its own. Be sure to floss once per day.

3. Quit smoking
Your teeth and general dentist will both love you for this one. Not only will you reduce your risk of oral cancer and periodontal disease, but you won’t have to suffer from the numerous problems suffered from trying to mask the tobacco smell. For instance, sugary mints and candies meant to mask tobacco breath will only harm your teeth further.

4. Quit sugary drinks
Similarly, you don’t want to drink too much coffee, soda or alcohol. These high-phosphorous drinks can reduce your overall calcium to balance the body out, which results in poorer tooth health. Opt instead for drinks like milk to help improve enamel strength.

5. Consume vitamins
Along with calcium, you need plenty of other vitamins to keep your bones strong. Fortified orange juice, broccoli and yogurt can all help you obtain enough nutrients in your every day diet. Other critical nutrients include zinc, iodine, copper and potassium.

6. Schedule regular visits at the local dentist office
